Safety & Risk Management
What safety protocols should schools and organizations follow when implementing Active Kids & Minds?
The safety of children is always our top priority.
We recommend the following best practices when implementing any youth physical activity program:
- Maintain a minimum 1:20 adult-to-student ratio (or follow your local policy if stricter)
- Ensure at least one adult present holds current CPR and First Aid certification
- Keep a fully stocked first aid kit on site
- Follow all school or organizational emergency procedures
- Conduct activities in safe, appropriate spaces
These guidelines help ensure a safe, supportive, and positive environment for all participants.
Do participants need to complete a registration or permission form?
Yes. We strongly recommend that all participants complete a registration or permission form prior to participation.
Our template permission form includes:
- Emergency contact information
- Relevant medical disclosures
- Allergy information
- Behavioral considerations
- Photo and video consent
Parents and caregivers are asked to clearly indicate whether their child may be photographed or recorded. Program leaders are responsible for ensuring
that no photos or videos are taken of children without proper consent.
Active Kids & Minds curriculum is educational in nature and does not replace medical advice. Participants should consult a healthcare provider as appropriate.
